PULLMAN, Wash. – Behind 21 kills from Kathryn Plummer, No. 3 Stanford swept No. 25 Washington State, 25-22, 25-22, 25-22, Tuesday, in Bohler Gym.
The Cardinal (23-4, 17-2 Pac-12) claimed its third straight Pac-12 Championship and 19th overall under third-year head coach Kevin Hambly.
Plummer hit .362 and finished with seven digs and three blocks. She also registered two aces, clinching the first and second sets for Stanford. She moved into sixth place on the Cardinal's career kills list with 1,827, passing Kristin Richards (2003-06), and is seven kills away from Kristin Folkl (1994-97) and fifth place.
The Cardinal hit .280 as a team and held Washington State (22-9, 11-8 Pac-12) to a .157 attack percentage.
Senior setter Jenna Gray guided the offense with 35 assists and tallied four kills and four digs. Senior libero Morgan Hentz racked up 20 digs in the sweep.
Senior opposite Audriana Fitzmorris hit .400 with nine kills on 20 swings with just one error. Junior Meghan McClure added five kills and 12 digs, while Madeleine Gates had four kills and two blocks. Sophomore Holly Campbell chipped in with three kills and a block.
It was Senior Night for the Cougars, who honored Alexis Dirige, Jocelyn Urias and Ashley Brown before the match. Washington State was led by middle blocker Magda Jehlarova, who hit .500 with nine kills.
Stanford returns to The Farm on Friday to host California for Senior Day. First serve is slated for 3 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks. The Cardinal's six seniors will be recognized during a postmatch ceremony.
