Card XC: Season in Review

STANFORD, Calif. – Under new coaches J.J. Clark and Ricardo Santos, Stanford cross country celebrated some of its best success in recent years, particularly on the women's side.

With Fiona O'Keeffe leading the way, Cardinal runners swept the first three places at the Pac-12 Championships, pacing the Cardinal to its first conference women's championship since 2010. Two weeks later, Ella Donaghu won the NCAA West Regional, and led Stanford to the team title as well. It marked the first time the Stanford women won the conference and regional crowns in the same year since 2007.

At the NCAA Championships, the Stanford women placed third – its highest finish since 2012 – and the Cardinal men were sixth. No other women's team has placed among the NCAA's top five over the past four years, as Stanford has.

The Cardinal men have finished among the top six for six consecutive years. Alex Ostberg earned his third cross country All-America honor and sixth-year Steven Fahy completed his collegiate career with five overall All-America honors, a 2019 NCAA steeplechase title, and two Pac-12 steeplechase championships.

Stanford is the only program to have both men's and women's teams finish among the top six for the past four years.
