STANFORD, Calif. – Junior Meghan McClure and senior Audriana Fitzmorris have been selected Academic All-Americans, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
McClure received first team honors, while Fitzmorris landed on the second team. It is the first career recognition for the pair, and the Cardinal now has 21 Academic All-Americans to date.
McClure, a native of Rancho Santa Margarita, boasts a 4.03 GPA in science, technology and society. An honorable mention AVCA All-American as a sophomore, she is averaging 1.93 kills, 2.66 digs and 2.39 points per set this season. She was named All-Pac-12 Conference honorable mention last week.
Fitzmorris carries a 3.51 GPA in human biology. A three-time AVCA All-American, she collected her third straight All-Pac-12 Conference honor this season. The Overland Park, Kansas, native ranks fifth in program history with 602 career blocks. She is second on the team with 302 kills and third with 105 total blocks this season.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically, maintain a 3.30 cumulative GPA or higher, and have appeared in at least 50 percent of the team's competition.
The Cardinal will host the Stanford Regional, facing Pac-12 foe Utah on Friday at 8 p.m. on ESPNU. Penn State and Cincinnati will meet in the other regional semifinal match at Maples Pavilion.
