Results

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. – Stanford Men's Golf opened its spring schedule with a fifth-place finish at The Southwestern Invitational. The Cardinal fired a 3-under 285 on Tuesday to finish with a 12-over 876 for the tournament. Pepperdine, hosting the tournament and playing on their home course of North Ranch Country Club, won the event going away with a 14-under 850.

Two Cardinal each posted their first career Top-10 finishes, as sophomores Ethan Ng (T6, -1) and Freddie Lee (T9, E) paced Stanford throughout the week.

"I thought our guys played a lot of solid golf throughout the week," The Knowles Family Director of Men's Golf Conrad Ray said following the conclusion of the event. "We hurt ourselves with too many careless bogeys from easy positions and some three putts on the greens, but overall it was a good way to open up the New Year. Pepperdine on their home course is a tough equation, but it was good to see what they have and what we can expect from a bunch of good teams in the field. Now our attention turns to Hawaii in a few weeks."

As a team, Stanford finished second in the field with 153 pars, was fifth with 48 birdies and also had two eagles.
