Cardinal Sweeps Concordia

STANFORD, Calif. – Jaylen Jasper and Will Rottman combined for 26 kills, leading No. 12 Stanford to a 25-23, 25-23, 25-18 win over Concordia, Saturday, in Maples Pavilion.

Stanford (6-8, 2-3 MPSF) hit .311 as a team and held Concordia (6-10, 1-4 MPSF) to a .168 clip. The Cardinal registered 11.0 team blocks, its third-most this season and out dug the Eagles, 43-30.

Jasper led all players with 15 kills on .357 hitting to go with six digs and four blocks. Rottman added 11 kills, seven digs, two aces and matched his career-high with four blocks.

Freshman Nathan Lietzke started his second straight match at setter, totaling 35 assists to go with seven digs. The Austin, Texas, native also registered a kill to give the Cardinal the 25-23 second-set victory.

Redshirt freshman libero Justin Lui anchored the defense with nine digs and had four assists. Senior outside hitter Eric Beatty also tallied nine digs and finished with six kills, three blocks and an ace.

Junior middle blocker Kyler Presho collected seven blocks, one shy of his career-high. Senior middle blocker Stephen Moye hit .667 with six kills on nine errorless swings, and had three digs and three blocks.

As a team, Stanford improved its passing from Thursday and sided out at a rate of 75 percent, while Concordia turned in a 63 percent sideout rate.

The Eagles were led by Raymond Barsemian's 13 kills, while freshman setter Christian Oviedo had a double-double with 22 assists and 11 digs. Junior libero Addison Enriques, the younger brother of former Cardinal All-American Evan Enriques ('18), had eight digs and five assists for Concordia.

Stanford hits the road next week, traveling Provo, Utah to take on No. 2 BYU on Saturday, Feb. 29.
