Card Falls to Beavers

CORVALLIS, Ore. – In her first vault as a collegian, sophomore Morgan Hoang gave Stanford a boost, though the Cardinal ultimately lost to Oregon State, 196.825-194.575 on Sunday at Gill Coliseum.

With a thin lineup available, Hoang was called into action at the No. 5 spot on the vault lineup and scored a 9.850 for the team's best score on the apparatus.

Stanford (3-7) fell behind from the first rotation, with the Cardinal on bars and Oregon State on vault, 49.050-49.000. Thanks to Hoang's score, without a safety net of a sixth vaulter, Stanford maintained the small deficit, 97.975-97.925.

However, the Cardinal was unable to keep the pace when Oregon State scored six scores of 9.80 or higher on the beam, in the third rotation, building a 147.350-145.650 lead to take command.

Stanford's Kyla Bryant earned two scored of 9.900, on the uneven bars and the balance beam, and earned the top all-around score of 39.425. Her bars score also topped all competitors.

Stanford returns to action on Monday, Feb. 10, against visiting Washington.
