CHICAGO - No. 1 Stanford dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 4 UCLA on Sunday afternoon in the semifinals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
Stanford (5-1), which had held the upper hand with six consecutive wins in the series, suffered its first loss to UCLA since March 21, 2015, when the Bruins won 5-2 in Los Angeles.
The Cardinal also was held scoreless in a match for the first time since Feb. 3, 2018, when Vanderbilt prevailed 7-0 in Nashville.
Stanford lost for only the eighth time in the last four years.
After the Bruins (7-0) captured the doubles point, Jada Hart and Abbey Forbes posted straight-set victories.
Sasha Vagramov provided the clincher, defeating Emma Higuchi 6-3, 6-3.
Stanford returns to action on Friday, Feb. 14, hosting UC Davis at 3 p.m.
