100 For Arbuthnott

STANFORD, Calif. - Emily Arbuthnott notched her 100th career singles win, highlighting No. 9 Stanford's 7-0 sweep of Saint Mary's on Tuesday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Stanford (9-1, 0-0 Pac-12) posted its fifth shutout of the season, winning the doubles point before sweeping singles play in a closer-than-it-looked victory.

Leading 1-0, Sara Choy won her fifth straight match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory on court four to put the Cardinal ahead 2-0.

One of the most clutch players in school history, Arbuthnott then defeated Jordan Harris 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 position, improving to 100-25 overall in career singles matches. Of Arbuthnott's 100 career victories, 30 have been match clinchers and 10 have come during NCAA competition.

Tuesday's clincher came from Emma Higuchi, who won 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot.

The Cardinal has won 67 of its last 70 matches at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Stanford opens Pac-12 play this weekend, hosting No. 37 USC on Friday (1:30 p.m.) and No. 3 UCLA on Saturday (12 p.m.).
