MPSF Honors Unveiled

STANFORD, Calif. – Three Cardinal were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all-conference teams, as the league released its annual awards Thursday.

Junior Jaylen Jasper was selected to the All-MPSF first team, while junior Kyler Presho and freshman Will Rottman landed on the honorable mention list. Rottman was also named to the All-MPSF Freshman Team. Stanford now has 105 all-conference selections all-time.

Jasper is a three-time All-MPSF pick and a two-time member of the first-team, having also earned the recognition as a freshman in 2018. He led the MPSF with 4.11 kills per set, was third in points per set (4.64) and seventh in digs per set (1.70). The Annapolis, Maryland, native led the team with three double-doubles, giving him eight for his career. He had a season-high 28 kills against No. 8 Pepperdine (Feb. 6), a season-best 12 digs at No. 7 UC Irvine (Jan. 17) and matched his career-high with five blocks versus Menlo College (Jan. 3).

Presho, who hails from San Clemente, California, is also a three-time all-conference honoree. The middle blocker led the team and was fifth in the MPSF with 1.02 blocks per set. He hit .356 and averaged 1.15 kills and 1.80 points per set. He registered four or more blocks in a match on six occasions and had a career-best eight blocks against NJIT (Jan. 10). He turned in a season-best 10 kills at No. 7 UC Irvine (Jan. 17).

A native of Santa Barbara, Rottman started all 17 matches at outside hitter for the Cardinal. He was second on the team and 12th in the conference with 2.67 kills per set. His 3.16 points per set were also second on the squad and 13th in the MPSF. He led Stanford with 14 service aces (0.24 saps). He turned in double-digit kills in eight matches and had a career-high 14 against No. 5 Lewis (March 7). His career-best four aces against No. 7 UCLA (Feb. 8) were the most by a Cardinal player this season.

BYU junior Gabi Garcia Fernandez was tabbed the MPSF Player of the Year, while Grand Canyon's Camden Gianni was voted MPSF Freshman of the Year. BYU's Shawn Olmstead earned MPSF Coach of the Year.
