Men's Basketball

Mainland Maui

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Competing in the 2020 Maui Jim Maui Invitational from Nov. 30 – Dec. 2, which was moved to Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Carolina, Stanford men's basketball will take on Alabama in the opening round of the tournament to wrap up the first day of action. The winner of the first round battle will take on the victor of North Carolina and UNLV in the semifinal, while the full bracket can be found here.

This will be Stanford's first appearance in the tournament since 2004, and the fourth time Stanford has competed in the event having also participated in 1987 and 1992. Traditionally played at the Lahaina Civic Center, the 2020 edition will be the first in its 37-year history to be played on the mainland.

Stanford and Alabama have squared off on the hardwood three times, with the Cardinal still looking for its first win in the series. The Rolling Tide won the last matchup, 66-54, in the second round of the NIT in 2013.

Stanford enters the 2020-21 season on the heels of its first 20-win campaign since 2014-15. One of the top defensive teams in the nation a year ago, the Cardinal returns four of five starters and adds an ESPN top-10 recruiting class.
