Tree House Program

Thank You!Thank you to all the Cardinal fans who supported the Tree House program. We had members in 44 states and 4 countries!

The Tree House program is no longer available to join, but stay tuned for ways to support Stanford student-athletes in 2021.

About the Program

From Palm Drive to The Dish, there are more than 43,000 trees on The Farm! Trees are prominently featured on the University seal, Athletics logo, and on game days with our beloved unofficial mascot, and we proudly cheer "Fear The Tree" in support of our varsity athletics programs.

Our inability to welcome fans to Stanford Stadium this season leaves a huge void to be filled. However, we're using this as an opportunity to highlight our rich history and tradition, foster a one-of-a-kind gameday atmosphere that is uniquely Stanford, and create a positive impact on our communities and environment.

Building the Tree House   Stanford Athletics has teamed up with Lowe's to create a home-forest advantage by staging more than 450 trees in Stanford Stadium. Lowe's is donating drought-resistant, locally sourced, native trees to cheer on the Cardinal all season long. Stanford Athletics will water and care for the trees throughout the season, and afterwards, all 450+ trees will be replanted in Bay Area communities. Local city works departments and other nonprofits will replant the trees to grow urban forest canopy, address climate change, and create healthier communities that are greener and more resilient.

Environmental Impact

Reduced Emissions
Each tree sequesters approximately 5,000 lbs of carbon dioxide over its lifetime. All together, these 470 trees planted in the Bay Area will sequester over 1,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide—that's equivalent to driving 2.5 million miles! This is enough to offset 39% of the annual travel emissions of Stanford's student-athletes.

Recycled Bottles
Each REPREVE t-shirt is made using approximately 6 recycled plastic bottles, and each pair of socks is made from one recycled plastic bottle. By using REPREVE instead of standard polyester, precious resources are saved. Using REPREVE reduces energy consumption by 45%, reduces water consumption by nearly 20% and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by over 30% compared to using conventional materials. For every Tree House package purchased, fans are supporting recycling because we're re-using at least 7 total bottles.

Community Partners
Stanford Athletics is working with several organizations, listed below, who will be receiving the trees after the season, and will plan to plant in the Bay Area in 2021.
