Pac-12 Schedule Announcement

STANFORD, Calif. – The Pac-12 Conference has released the 2021 women's gymnastics schedule, which reflects a single-round robin format of seven conference dual meets per institution.

In light of the Santa Clara County Public Health Department's current emergency directive, Stanford's first dual meet (at UCLA on Feb. 5) has been canceled while its matchup against California, originally slated for Jan. 29, has been rescheduled for March 3.

The women's gymnastics program reported back to campus on Jan. 4 to begin the onboarding process for the upcoming varsity season.

In accordance with Santa Clara County's restrictions for collegiate sports, athletics activities that involve contact, that do not allow for social distancing, or that take place indoors, remain prohibited. Additionally, individuals are required to quarantine for 10 days upon returning from travel of over 150 miles from Santa Clara's borders. As a result, the women's gymnastics program initially plans to conduct modified outdoor training activities that comply with the current restrictions.

While Stanford Athletics will continue striving to create an opportunity for student-athletes to compete in their upcoming season, all decisions regarding training and competition will be based on the conditions and the guidance provided to us by public health officials and our university administration. Accordingly, all competition dates are subject to change.

As several Pac-12 sports begin their seasons, the conference recently determined it would continue its prohibition on fan attendance at Pac-12 sport competitions taking place on Pac-12 campuses until further notice.

The NCAA has modified the minimum number of meets required to be eligible for at-large qualification for postseason competitions across all sports, resulting in a minimum number of four meets required in the sport of women's gymnastics.

Stanford finished the 2020 season with a national qualifying score of 195.990 prior to a cancellation of the Pac-12 Championships during a season that was shortened by the COVID-19 global pandemic. The Cardinal remained a fixture in the top-30 of the national rankings despite multiple injuries to key gymnasts and several underclassmen embracing key roles in the lineup.

The Cardinal produced an impressive late-season surge, improving its score for the third straight week with a season-high 196.725 on March 6 at Utah while posting its best floor score in 16 years with a 49.625 on March 2 against Arizona State on Senior Night.

The Cardinal is led by senior Kyla Bryant, who was named a Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Second Team All-American on floor and became the 34th All-American in school history and first since Elizabeth Price in 2018. Bryant was also named an All-Pac-12 First Team selection on floor and all-around, becoming one of only seven gymnasts to earn conference recognition in multiple categories.

Bryant is joined by fellow seniors Rachael Flam and Grace Garcia, who will anchor a roster that features 10 returnees and a five-member freshman class.
