STANFORD, Calif. - Logan Panchot was drafted by DC United as the fifth selection of the second round of the Major League Soccer SuperDraft on Thursday.
Panchot's selection extends Stanford's streak of having at least one player selected by the MLS in each of the last six years.

"Logan was a cornerstone of the program from day one of his freshman season," said the Knowles Family Director of Men's Soccer Jeremy Gunn. "He always displayed the courage and commitment that we champion, while also having the coolness and composure of a mature player. Having played three tremendous seasons for us, it was sad to see his senior year postponed, but hopefully this new opportunity will provide productive challenges and experiences for him. Like many of our players, Logan worked hard to put himself in a position to graduate after his fall senior season, so he is ready to move on with his Stanford degree and begin with the MLS upon the establishment of a start date."
Winning a national championship his freshman season, along with two Pac-12 championships, Panchot was a mainstay for the Cardinal on the backline, earning the start in 59 of his 62 matches. In addition to leading a defense that ranked top-10 nationally in goals against average each of his three seasons, Panchot finished his career with 17 points for the Cardinal, including three goals and 11 assists. As a junior, he tied for the team lead and was third in the Pac-12 with eight assists. Two of his three career goals were game-winners.
Panchot is the 27th player in program history to be selected in the MLS SuperDraft.
