STANFORD, Calif. – The Pac-12 Conference has released the 2021 spring women's soccer schedule. Member institutions are slated to play a 12-match schedule, beginning Feb. 26.
The Stanford women's soccer program reported back to campus on Jan. 4 to begin the onboarding process for its upcoming varsity season.
In accordance with Santa Clara County's restrictions for collegiate sports, athletics activities that involve contact, that do not allow for social distancing, or that take place indoors, remain prohibited. Additionally, individuals are required to quarantine for 10 days upon returning from travel of over 150 miles from Santa Clara's borders. As a result, women's soccer initially plans to conduct modified outdoor training activities that comply with the current restrictions.
While Stanford Athletics will continue striving to create an opportunity for student-athletes to compete in their upcoming season, all decisions regarding training and competition will be based on the conditions and the guidance provided to us by public health officials and our university administration. Accordingly, all competition dates are subject to change.
The Pac-12 schedule reflects a 12-match slate between Pac-12 programs – a single-round robin of 11 matches that will count towards the final Pac-12 standings, plus an additional non-league rivalry matchup the weekend of March 19-20. Each program will be able to schedule up to four nonconference matches – including against Pac-12 programs – beginning Feb. 4.
Kickoff times and broadcast information for Stanford's schedule will be announced at a later date.
Stanford won its third national title in 2019 and enters the spring as the defending NCAA champions looking for its sixth-consecutive Pac-12 title. The Cardinal return All-Americans Naomi Girma, Madison Haley and Kiki Pickett. Haley and Pickett were selected in the first round of this month's 2021 NWSL Draft but will remain at Stanford for the spring season thanks to an NCAA waiver. The Knowles Family Director of Women's Soccer Paul Ratcliffe enters his 18th season on The Farm and is Stanford's all-time winningest coach with a record of 320-52-29.
