EUGENE, Ore. – Civana Kuhlmann scored for the second-straight game, but Stanford fell in a tight contest on the road to Oregon, 2-0. The Cardinal drops to 1-1 (0-1 Pac-12) with the result.
Stanford controlled much of the game's possession, and outshot the Ducks (2-0-1, 1-0-1 Pac-12) on the evening, 13-5. The Cardinal had five corner kicks and forced Oregon into four saves, but could not get one across the line until Kuhlmann's late finish. Katie Meyer made two saves between the posts.
Oregon struck first in the 23rd minute, and took a 1-0 lead into the half. Despite a flurry of Stanford shots to begin the second frame, the Ducks found a second goal in the 64th frame.
Kuhlmann scored with 89:59 on the clock in the second half, firing home after Kiki Pickett's free kick batted around the 18-yard box and fell to the attacker near the penalty spot. The score was the 18th of her career.
Stanford returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 28 in Corvallis against Oregon State. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
