It didn't take long for the Cardinal to assert its dominance at Avery Aquatic Center, jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the opening five minutes of play, featuring two goals from Lexi Rowell.

The Aztecs found their footing, scoring two of the final three goals in the period, but Stanford's offense was relentless. Hannah Shabb and Sarah Klass extended the lead to open the second, with another two goals from Shabb to enter the break up 11-5.

SDSU edged Stanford in the third period, 3-2, but the Cardinal never let the Aztecs get within four goals, eventually closing out the match with a 16-10 victory. Emalia Eichelberger played the lions share of minutes in the cage, collecting 10 saves for the Cardinal, who finished 4-of-8 on powerplay opportunities.
