WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Corinne Zanolli's goal in the final minute lifted Stanford to a 3-2 victory over Monmouth on Sunday morning.

Stanford (2-0, 2-0 America East) controlled tempo throughout, holding advantages in shots (17-8) and penalty corners (7-4) while mounting consistent offensive pressure.

Sunday's result was similar to the 2019 America East championship game also played on the Hawks' home field, which the Cardinal won 2-1 despite a commanding 16-2 shot edge.

Monmouth (3-2, 1-1 America East) held a 1-0 lead until the 45th minute and tied the game again at 2-2 midway through the fourth period.

Juli Porto's first career goal brought the Cardinal even at 1-1 in the third period before Lily Croddick made it 2-1 with an unassisted score three minutes later.

Tied 2-2 with 36 seconds remaining, Zanolli fired home the game-winner for her third goal of the season and 77th overall in 66 career games.

Hannah Santos made three saves in goal.

Stanford resumes conference play on Wednesday, March 24, with a road game at New Hampshire.
