DAVIS, Calif. – The No. 19 Stanford beach volleyball program began an eight-match, spring-break road trip with a sweep of UC Davis and No. 6 Hawai'I in Davis on Monday afternoon. The Cardinal is now 5-3 overall and winners of four straight matches.
The second match of the day, a 4-1 win over No. 6 Hawai'i, marked Stanford's first-ever victory over the Rainbow Warriors. The Cardinal was previously 0-9 in the matchup.
Sunny Villapando became Stanford's all-time career wins leader with her 50th and 51st victories. Morgan Hentz was the previous all-time leader with 50 career wins.
Stanford now travels to Arizona for six matches in four days, beginning with a Thursday doubleheader at Grand Canyon and vs. Arizona State. Then, the Cardinal will take on four opponents at the Pac-12 South Invitational in Tucson on Saturday and Sunday.
