Scholar-Athlete of the Year

STANFORD, Calif. – Alex Liang has been named the Pac-12 Men's Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced at the Pac-12 championships on Tuesday.

Liang, a senior from Palo Alto, Calif., is the second Stanford swimmer to be named the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year this season, as Brooke Forde was the women's recipient this past weekend.

A three-time All-American, Liang has a cumulative GPA of 3.59 while pursuing his degree in economics. He was part of the 400 medley relay team that won a Pac-12 title in 2020.

On top of his athletic accomplishments, he has been honored as a Scholar All-American by the CSCAA twice (2018, 2020), as well as to the Pac-12 All-Academic team in 2019 and 2020.

The Cardinal are in the midst of the Pac-12 Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, set to conclude on Wednesday.
