STANFORD, Calif. – Despite an early 3-0 deficit, No. 37/29 Stanford men's tennis rallied for a 4-3 victory over No. 34/25 UCLA on Friday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Center. The Cardinal remains unbeaten in conference play at 4-0, and improves to 7-3 overall.
UCLA led early with a pair of 6-4 victories in doubles, and took a 3-0 advantage after the first two singles wins. Tristan Boyer started the shift in momentum on court four with a 6-4, 6-0 victory to pull the Cardinal within two.
Alexandre Rotsaert continued the Stanford run with a comeback victory on court three. After falling 6-1 in the opening set, Rotsaert put together frames of 6-3 and 6-4 to close out his win. William Genesen tied the team score, 3-3, after his win on court six. Genesen won both sets in tiebreak fashion, 7-6 (4) and 7-6 (5).
Timohty Sah, earning his third clinching point of the year, was forced to a third set after a 10-8 tiebreaker in set two went to the Bruins. Undeterred, Sah finished off his opponent with the final two games of set three to secure the win.
Stanford wraps up its homestand on Saturday at 1 p.m. against No. 15/12 USC.
