STANFORD, Calif. – No. 29/26 Stanford edged No. 25/22 California 4-3 on Friday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
Stanford (13-3, 8-2 Pac-12), which notched its fifth win of the season over a ranked opponent, extended its winning streak to three with a victory in the regular season finale for both teams.
The Cardinal has won six in a row against the Golden Bears and seven of the last eight overall.
Sara Choy's 6-2, 6-3 victory on court five provided the clincher for Stanford, which has won 78 of its last 83 matches at Taube Family Tennis Stadium and 46 of its last 49 regular-season Pac-12 contests.
Stanford captured the doubles point for a 1-0 lead when Choy and Emma Higuchi posted a deciding 7-5 win on court three.
The Cardinal increased its lead to 3-0 after convincing victories inside the stadium from Michaela Gordon (6-1, 6-1) and Angelica Blake (6-0, 6-2).
California (14-6, 7-3 Pac-12) bounced back with wins at the Nos. 3 and 4 spots before Choy ripped off the final four games to close out her second set.
Stanford now turns its attention to next weekend's Pac-12 Championships in San Diego.
