TEMPE, Ariz. - Scoring its most goals in two years, No. 2 Stanford took down No. 14 Indiana 20-6 in the opening contest of the MPSF Tournament, advancing to a Saturday semifinal showdown with UCLA.
Freshman Jewel Roemer paced the Cardinal with four goals, all coming in the first half, while Stanford boasted 12 different goal scorers, a season-high.

The two teams traded goals in the early moments of the game, but it didn't take long for Stanford's explosive offense to vault ahead, jumping in front 5-1, with two goals from Sarah Klass.
Roemer was a consistent performer for the Cardinal in the first half, scoring Stanford's fifth, seventh, eighth and 10th goals of the afternoon, giving the No. 3 seed of the tournament a 10-3 advantage at the break.
The lead would continue to swell, with Chloe Harbilas netting Stanford's first two goals of the third period, as Stanford rattled off seven straight goals spanning the 6:24 mark of the third period and the 6:51 mark of the fourth, book ended by two straight from freshman Christina Hicks.
The Cardinal won all four sprints on the day and featured a .588 shot percentage, while holding Indiana to a 1-of-11 clip on the power play. Emaila Eichelberger collected five saves before Maya Avital appeared in relief.
Stanford will face the tournament's No. 2 seed UCLA on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. on MPSF TV.
