TEMPE, Ariz. – Stanford women's soccer out-shot Arizona State, 12-11, but only landed two shots on goal in a 2-0 loss to the 16th-ranked Sun Devils, Sunday at Sun Devil Stadium.
Kiki Pickett and Amy Sayer led the Cardinal (5-5-1, 4-3-0 Pac-12) with a shot on goal each.
Arizona State scored in the fifth and 23rd minutes to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Stanford came out to start the final 45 minutes with plenty of pressure to get three corner kicks in the first 10 minutes. The Sun Devil backline was able to hold strong and hold the Cardinal to a lone shot on goal in the final half.
The Cardinal will return home for a pair of matches against the Pac-12's Southern California schools. Stanford will play USC, April 9, and UCLA, April 11. Both matches will air on the Pac-12 Network.
