Stanford wide receiver Simi Fehoko was selected by the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday afternoon with the 179th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Fehoko, a native of Sandy, Utah, is the first Stanford wide receiver drafted since J.J. Arcega-Whiteside was taken in the second round by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2019. He is the first Cardinal selected by the Cowboys since Dalton Schultz in 2018 and the 11th all-time.
Fehoko is a big-play threat, finishing third in school history with an average of 18.48 yards per reception. As a sophomore in 2019, Fehoko set the school record with an average of 23.58 yards per reception.
As a senior in 2020, Fehoko led the Pac-12 in receiving with 584 yards on 37 catches. In his final game in a Cardinal uniform, Fehoko set a school record with 16 catches for 230 yards (third-most in school history) and three touchdowns. He garnered All-Pac-12 first team recognition following the season.
Fehoko, who served a two-year LDS mission in Seoul, South Korea prior to enrolling at Stanford in 2018, began to find his footing in 2019. He caught 24 passes for 586 yards and six touchdowns.
Fehoko is the fifth Cardinal selected so far in the 2021 NFL Draft. Stanford has had at least five guys drafted in five of the eight drafts since 2014. 2015 was the last draft that Stanford had at least five guys go in the first five rounds.
