ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - In a tight field at the NCAA Albuquerque Regional, Stanford men's golf sits in eighth-place at 1-under par following the first day of action at the UNM Championship Course. The Cardinal is just six strokes off the lead, with first-place Oregon State (-7) and ninth-place Boise State and Oklahoma (+1) separated by just eight strokes. 

Fifth-year senior David Snyder stepped up on Monday, playing in the No. 5 spot. He led the way for Stanford with a 2-under 70, tallying five birdies in the round to sit tied for ninth after the first day of action. Both Ethan Ng and Karl Vilips are tied for 24th after even-par 72s, while Nate Menon finished with a 1-over 73 and is tied for 33rd. Freshman Michael Thorbjornsen is tied for 40th following a 2-over 74.

The Cardinal is third in the field with 20 birdies after the first round, playing the par 5's at 10-under which is tied for third in the field. The Cardinal is tied for second in the 14-team field on the par 4's, playing them in 5-over on the day.

Stanford looks to move up the leaderboard on Tuesday, as the top five programs qualify for NCAA Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club. The Cardinal is paired with Nevada and Boise State and will tee things up beginning at 7:25 a.m. PT.
