SARASOTA, Fla. – Senior Grace McGinley of the Stanford women's rowing team has been named the recipient of the NCAA's Elite 90 Award, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.
A two-time CRCA Scholar-Athlete (2019, 2020), McGinley is triple majoring at Stanford in Comparative Literature, Classics and Film and Media Studies. Successful on the water and in the classroom, she has been in the NCAA lineup every season, highlighted by a fourth-place second varsity finish in 2019 and seventh-place result in 2018.
McGinley is the 22nd student-athlete in Stanford history to win the award, which was first handed out in 2009. She is the first rower in program history to earn the accolade.
The honor recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.
