STANFORD, Calif. - Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football David Shaw announced the signing of Wilfredo Aybar on Tuesday, increasing the total number of student-athletes in this year's class to 27.
Originally classified as a 2022 signee, Aybar has been approved to enroll and join the Cardinal's incoming 2021 class. Aybar has completed his graduation requirements and is eligible to begin summer quarter instruction.
"Wilfredo is long, fast and explosive, which is why many of the top football programs in America wanted him," said Shaw. "On top of that, he is as driven to be great off the field as he is on the field."
Aybar is a 6-3, 250-lb. outside linebacker from Fall River, Massachusetts, who competed at Cheshire Academy in Connecticut under head coach David Dykeman. Aybar arrives on The Farm rated as the No. 112 overall player in the nation by ESPN and No. 147 by Rivals. Aybar is also nationally ranked as the No. 12 defensive end by ESPN and No. 8 weakside defensive end by Rivals.
The consensus No. 1 overall player in Connecticut by ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports, Aybar also competed in track and field while at Cheshire Academy and was a member of the honor roll during his high school career.
