D1Baseball All-Americans Opens in a new window

STANFORD, Calif. – After helping guide Stanford to its 17th appearance in the College World Series, senior Brendan Beck and sophomore Brock Jones have been named to D1Baseball's All-America second team.

Beck adds the latest All-America selection to nods from the ABCA (first team), Collegiate Baseball (second team), the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (second team), Baseball America (third team) and Perfect Game (third team). The 2021 Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year, Beck pitched to a 9-3 record and a 3.15 ERA (fifth in Pac-12) over 17 appearances and 15 starts this year. The native of Corona, Calif. struck out a Pac-12 best 143 compared to just 26 walks over 108 2/3 innings of work, finishing with a 5.50 strikeout-to-walk ratio and 11.84 strikeouts per nine innings. His strikeout-to-walk ratio placed third in the Pac-12 and 46th nationally, while his .98 WHIP led all Pac-12 players and ranked 33rd in the nation. Beck's 143 strikeouts are the most for a Cardinal in a single season since John Hudgins in 2003 (143), and the fourth-most strikeouts in the nation.

Jones was previously named an All-American according to Baseball America and Perfect Game, earning a spot on the second team according to both publications. Jones, an All-Pac-12 first team selection and an All-Region second team pick according to the ABCA, reached safely in all but five games this year while hitting .311 with 18 home runs to rank first in the Pac-12 and 16th nationally. The native of Fresno, Calif. compiled a team-high 62 RBIs, 56 runs scored and a .453 on-base percentage. Jones amassed 32 extra-base hits, including 13 doubles and a triple, while compiling a .646 slugging percentage to rank third in the Pac-12. Showing patience at the plate, Jones walked a team-best 49 times to rank third in the Pac-12 and 11th nationally. Jones hit .361 with 13 runs scored, five doubles, five home runs and 18 RBIs in postseason play, including .429 with two doubles, two homers and eight RBIs at the College World Series.

Stanford finished the 2021 season with a 39-17 overall record and was one of the final six teams competing in Omaha.
