STANFORD, Calif. – Senior Meghan McClure has been named the Academic All-America of the Year for women's volleyball, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
McClure is a repeat first team selection, the first in school history to land on the first team twice, and joins Alix Klineman (2010) as the second Academic All-America of the Year in program history. The Cardinal now boasts 22 CoSIDA Academic All-America awards all-time.
The lone senior on the 2020-21 squad, McClure was a two-time NCAA champion and three-time Pac-12 champion during her time on The Farm. A 2018 AVCA All-America honorable mention honoree, the outside hitter was also named a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American and the NCAA Elite 90 Award winner in 2019. A 2021 Senior CLASS Award top-30 candidate and Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, McClure graduated in June with a 4.046 GPA in science, technology and society.
McClure recently started her career in the Teach for America Memphis Corps working as a public school special education teacher. There, she also intends to pursue a master's in education from Johns Hopkins. The recipient of an NCAA postgraduate scholarship this spring, McClure will use the funds to help her continue to explore her passion for education, whether that takes the form of teaching, administration, policy, advocacy or educational technology. She hopes to make meaningful change for underserved children in America.
