STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford field hockey program has added Michael Barminski to the program as assistant coach, announced Thursday by head coach Roz Ellis.
"Michael is going to be a great addition to our staff. I was drawn to his poised mindset of the game, as well as his passion for being creative," said Ellis. "His values in how to teach the game align perfectly and his excitement to grow our sport is unmatched."
Barminski has been a national team player for the United States since 2010, while serving as a captain since 2017, and has made 93 appearances for the United States. He has also coached the junior men's national team for the United States and the Ventura County Red Devils since 2017, and the Ventura County Roadrunners since 2016.
"I grew up playing field hockey in California so I'm no stranger to the caliber and legacy surrounding Stanford Field Hockey. It's an immaculate organization and one I'm honored and humbled to join," said Barminski.
Barminski has also coached with USA Futures and Field Hockey Federation, while serving on the board of USA Field Hockey as an athlete representative since 2019.
"Talking with Roz, it's clear that there is a winning formula for the road ahead," Barminski continued. "I'm excited to apply my skill set to help build a program and legacy that will be a dominating force in Division I field hockey, and a harbor for the continued growth of the sport."
A 2016 graduate of UC San Diego, Barminski later received his Master's in Business Administration from DeVry.
