Another Sweep in Philly

PHILADELPHIA – Kendall Kipp and Caitie Baird combined for 29 kills as No. 21 Stanford swept Temple, 25-14, 25-20, 25-22, Saturday, in McGonigle Hall.

Stanford (2-0) hit .425 as a team and held Temple (0-2) to .180 hitting. The Cardinal was also solid defensively, finishing with 6.0 blocks and 45 digs.

Kipp hit .538 with 15 kills on 26 swings with just one error to go with four blocks, including two solo. Baird added 14 kills on .520 hitting and seven digs.
 


Freshman setter Kami Miner controlled the offense with a career-high 43 assists to go with three kills, four digs and a block. Sophomore libero Elena Oglivie collected 15 digs and tallied three assists and a kill.
 


Redshirt sophomore middle blocker McKenna Vicini hit .667 with eight kills on 12 errorless swings. Junior outside hitter Natalie Berty posted eight kills and a solo block, while senior middle blocker Holly Campbell registered five kills, four digs and a pair of blocks.

Sophomore Alex Lougeay started her second career match, finishing with seven digs and an ace to seal the first set for the Cardinal. Freshman defensive specialist Taylor Beaven came off the bench to tally five digs and two assists, while junior Selina Xu was utilized as a serving sub in the first and second sets and sophomore Malia Tufuga appeared in the third.
 


Temple was led by Gem Grimshaw's 13 kills on .462 hitting, while Miray Bolukbasi had 12 kills on a .385 attack percentage. Libero Falanika Danielson had a match-best 17 digs.

The Cardinal returns to The Farm to for its home opener on Tuesday against No. 6 Florida. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks.
