SALT LAKE CITY - Stanford men's swimming and diving opened the season with a 191-104 victory over Pac-12 rival Utah.

The Cardinal placed first in 14 of 16 events in the dual meet and featured four swimmers winning multiple events.

2020 Olympian Andrei Minakov made his debut for Stanford, taking first in the 50 free (20.91) and 100 fly (48.15). Sophomore Ethan Dang also had a strong showing and took the top spot in the 100 breast (55.56) and 200 breast (2:03.69). 

Leon MacAlister added a win in the 200 back (1:46.49). The trio of Minakov, Dang and MacAlister combined with Mason Gonzalez to take the top spot in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:28.22.

Luke Maurer chipped in two individual wins in the 200 free (1:37.94) and the 500 free (4:34.92).

Freshmen Matt Fenlon and Jack Ryan hit the ground running in their first competition for the Cardinal. Fenlon secured an individual win in the 200 fly (1:50.70) while Ryan claimed first place in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 325.05.

Stanford is back in action on Nov. 5 at the Triple Distance Meet, hosted by California.
