STANFORD, Calif. - Fueled by three top-10 individual efforts, Stanford continued its impressive start to the season with a seven-stroke lead on its home course at the Stanford Intercollegiate on Friday.
The Cardinal, which is aiming for its third consecutive tournament title in as many appearances to open the fall season, stands at 11-under (273) after the opening day of competition, tied for its fourth-best 18-hole team round in school history.
Freshman Rose Zhang is the tournament's leader at 6-under 65, collecting three birdies on the front nine and four on the back nine. Joining Zhang in the top-10 are senior Aline Krauter, who is tied for second at 3-under 68, and sophomore Rachel Heck, who checks in tied for sixth at 2-under 69.
