For Zhang, it was her third straight victory to begin her career. She is believed to be the first Stanford golfer ever -- man or woman -- to win her first three events on The Farm. Tiger Woods won two of his first three events as a freshman in the fall of 1994. Zhang posted back-to-back 65s to open the tournament before her flawless 67. She had a lengthy putt on the 18th green to break the record, but that missed by just inches. She would tap in for par to clinch the four-stroke victory. For the week, Zhang played the par 5s at 9-under, the par 4s at 2-under and the par 3s at 5-under.

To put Zhang's career start in perspective, only six other golfers in Stanford women's golf history have even won three times in their careers prior to Zhang accomplishing that feat in her first three events. Zhang has now played eight of her nine rounds at par or better with four of them (three this weekend) in the 60s. Her 36-hole score of 12-under also tied the school record, which had set previously by Mariah Stackhouse at the 2013 Peg Barnard Invitational.

After winning four, multi-day events in last season's abbreviated spring-only schedule, the Cardinal has already won three times this fall. Stanford also won two, one-day events in the spring, bringing their victory tally to nine wins in the calendar year 2021.
For the second time in three tournaments, fellow freshman Caroline Sturdza finished right behind Zhang on the Cardinal leaderboard, After back-to-back 69s, Sturdza finished tied for fifth with a 4-under 209, her best 54-hole score-to-par so far in her career. Senior Aline Krauter (T7; 3-under 210) and sophomore Rachel Heck (T10; 2-under 211) both finished inside the Top 10, while junior Angelina Ye (T19) climbed into the Top 20 on Sunday with a 2-under 69.
Junior Brooke Seay finished 18th on the weekend competing as an individual, finishing with a 1-under 70 on Sunday.
Zhang joins teammate Ye as winners of the Stanford Intercollegiate. Ye was victorious as a freshman in 2019.
The Cardinal will finish out their fall schedule, Nov. 1-3, at the Pac-12 Preview at Nanea Golf Club.
