ALPHARETTA, Ga. - Stanford men's golf held steady on Sunday at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, shooting a 3-under 285 to finish fifth. The Cardinal was led by sophomore Karl Vilips, who posted a career-best finish of tied for third with a 12-under 204. Vilips' previous career-best finish was a tied for sixth mark at the 2021 Western Intercollegiate.

Vilips started Sunday's final round slowly, going out in 3-over 39. He closed on fire, though, with three birdies and an eagle on his final five holes to finish 2-under for the day. Vilips has now played 18 of his 35 collegiate rounds at par or better.

Fellow sophomore Michael Thorbjornsen closed the weekend strong, tallying seven birdies on his way to a 2-under 70. Thorbjornsen opened the tournament with an even-par 72 on Friday, before improving by one stroke each of the three rounds.

Stanford will close out its fall schedule at Poppy Hills at the Saint Mary's Invitational, Monday, Nov. 8 through Wednesday, Nov. 10.
