SEATTLE, Wash. – Lifting the trophies at the ITA Northwest Super Regional Championships, Stanford's Arthur Fery won the singles competition while the duo of Fery and Alexandre Rotsaert were victorious in doubles.
Fery went a perfect 5-0 in singles to win the title, including a pair of wins over ranked opponents in his final two matches. After falling in the first set of the final, Fery stormed back with sets of 6-3 and 6-1 to win the title. The sophomore from the United Kingdom is now 6-1 to start the season.
Undefeated on the doubles court, Fery and Rotsaert won all four matches, including wins over opponents from Portland, Washington and Gonzaga. The tandem didn't drop a set in the final two rounds, and won convincingly in the final, 6-2, 6-1.
Rotsaert reached the quarterfinal round in singles after winning two consecutive matches to open the season, while Timothy Sah and Max Basing advanced to the round of 16. Aryan Chaudhary won three matches after coming up short in the round of 32, eventually reaching the final of the consolation bracket. Chaudhary leads the team with 10 wins this fall.
The doubles pair of Basing and Sah rattled off two straight wins to open the tournament, including an 8-4 decision over Oregon's 12th-ranked team, but fell in the semifinals. Chaudhary teamed up with Tomas Kopczynski for a first-round doubles win as well.
Stanford returns to the court Oct. 28-31 at the SoCal Championships in Los Angeles.
