PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - Sophomore Karl Vilips fired a career-best 6-under 65 to help Stanford men's golf maintain a seven-stroke lead following the second round of the Saint Mary's Invitational at Poppy Hills Golf Course. Vilips' previous career-best round was a 5-under 65 at the 2021 Western Intercollegiate.

All six Stanford golfers competing are in the top 30, including four who are tied for 10th or better. Junior Barclay Brown is tied for third at 5-under, just two strokes off the lead heading into the final round. Ethan Ng and Henry Shimp are both tied for 10th with identical 2-under 140s, while Michael Thorbjornsen is tied for 22nd with an even-par 142. Jake Beber-Frankel, competing as an individual, is tied for 30th with a 1-over 143.

The Cardinal will look to finish off their second victory of the fall on Wednesday, which is also National Signing Day. Stanford also won the Colonial Collegiate Invitational in October.
