Card Overpowers Colorado

BOULDER, Colo. – Led by Kendall Kipp and Caitie Baird, No. 19 Stanford defeated Colorado, 25-23, 25-16, 24-26, 25-21, Thursday, at the CU Events Center.

Kipp recorded her first double-double of the season with 19 kills on .500 hitting and a season-high 15 digs. The opposite also tallied six blocks and two aces. Baird, the reigning Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week, finished with 18 kills, seven digs and two blocks. The Indianapolis native set the tone with nine kills in the opening set to lead the Cardinal to a comeback win.

Stanford (15-10, 10-7 Pac-12) out hit Colorado (14-12, 5-12 Pac-12), .305 to .204. The Cardinal had an 11.0 to 8.0 advantage in blocks and out dug the Buffaloes, 63-52. Stanford improves to 24-1 all-time versus Colorado.
 


Freshman Kami Miner also turned in a double-double for Stanford, her eighth of the season, with 47 assists and a career-best 19 digs. Sophomore libero Elena Oglivie collected 13 digs and had five assists.

Stanford hit over .400 in both the second and fourth sets, and posted an 82 percent sideout rate in the second.
 


Redshirt sophomore McKenna Vicini notched a match-high eight blocks to go with six kills, two digs and two assists. Senior Holly Campbell added seven kills and two blocks, while freshman Sami Francis had 12 kills and two blocks.

Colorado was led by Maya Tabron's 18 kills and eight digs. Setter Jenna Ewert had a double-double with 48 assists and 15 digs, while Alexia Kuehl chipped in with 10 kills on .412 hitting.
