GREENSBORO, N.C. - Four swimmers and divers placed in the top-four in individual events on the first day of the NC State/GAC and Texas Diving Invites.

Andrei Minakov led the way for the swimmers, clocking a 19.13 in the 50 free prelims race. This was the fastest time in the NCAA coming into the day and the fifth-fastest time in Stanford history. The freshman olympian swam a 19.20 in finals to take second place in the event. 

Preston Forst and Grant Shoults also had impressive showings in the 500 free. The pair placed second and third in prelims and finals, ending the day with 4:15.54 and 4:15.75 respectively.

Jonny Afeld was the top finisher for Stanford in the 200 IM, taking sixth place at 1:45.40. His time was good for an NCAA B standard time.

Two relays also took place on the first day of competition, with the 200 free relay to kick off the finals session and the 400 medley relay to finish the day. Stanford took home fourth place in both events, earning an NCAA B Standard time in the 200 free.

At the Texas Diving Invite, Conor Casey led the way for Stanford, claiming fourth place in the 1-meter finals with a score of 391.85. Jack Ryan took home eighth place in the event with a score of 305.10.

The Cardinal is back in action Friday morning for day two of the meets in Greensboro, N.C. and Austin, Texas.
