PHILADELPHIA - No. 10 Stanford closed out its four-match stretch in Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon, representing its season-opening competition to close out the fall.
The Cardinal (0-4), which has one more game remaining on its road trip Monday at No. 3 Princeton, was competitive throughout the weekend despite facing four top-10 opponents.
Si Ya Ma was impressive in her collegiate debut, defeating all four opponents over the weekend at the No. 3 spot.
Against Penn and Amherst College, Stanford showcased its talented 1-2 punch at the top of the lineup, with Cassandra Ong and Elena Wagenmans also producing victories.
Stanford was competing for the first time since Feb. 23, 2020. The Cardinal did not compete during the 2020-21 season, aligning with similar decisions made by peer institutions and coupled with the College Squash Association (CSA) cancelling its national championship events due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.
The Cardinal returns to action Jan. 7-9, with its next road trip set to include contests against Columbia, Yale and Trinity College (Conn.).
