Buffs Top Card to Open Conference Action

BOULDER, Colo. – Opening Pac-12 play with the first conference game of any league in the country, Stanford men's basketball ran out of time in an 80-76 defeat to Colorado on Sunday, Nov. 28 at CU Events Center.

Spencer Jones led the way with a season-high 15 points, all of which came in the second half, while Brandon Angel tied his career-high with 13 and Lukas Kisunas pitched in 11 points with a team-leading nine rebounds. Harrison Ingram and Michael O'Connell each scored eight points with a game-high five assists each.

Stanford jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, and led by as many as 11 with 11:38 to go in the opening frame, 21-10. Angel contributed two and-ones during the stretch, while Noah Taitz scored seven points in the first half, including a three to close the period. The Buffaloes led by five at the break, 37-32.

The Cardinal again jumped on the Buffaloes to start the second half, scoring the first nine points to take a 41-37 lead. The Buffaloes responded to take a seven-point lead, which Stanford again fought back from to take a lead with 7:22 to go after a layup from Jaiden Delaire. The teams were tied at 66-66 with four minutes to play, and despite seven late points from Kisunas, Colorado held on for the result.

Stanford returns to action Dec. 12 at Maples Pavilion against Oregon. The 4 p.m. tip-off will be broadcast on Pac-12 Network.
