BERKELEY, Calif. - No. 4 Stanford held leads both early and late but couldn't hang on against rival and No. 2 ranked California on Saturday, falling 12-10 in overtime at Spieker Aquatics Complex.

The Cardinal falls to 16-5 overall and 0-3 in the MPSF with one regular season game left.

No. 4 Stanford 10 - No. 2 California 12 (OT)

The Cardinal started strong, shooting out to a 3-1 lead just over halfway into the opening quarter with goals from Quinn Woodhead, Walker Seymour and AJ Rossman.

The Golden Bears responded with three straight of their own, starting the game of runs between both squads. The two traded goals before Parker Killion gave Stanford a slight 8-6 edge, but Cal evened things up before a late goal from Tyler Abramson would give the edge to the visitors at the half.

The second half was almost completely opposite from the first with both team's defenses stepping up to shut down the attack. Killion scored his third of the afternoon, a season high, to start the third quarter, but unfortunately for the Cardinal, that was its last goal. Nolan Krutonog provided a valiant effort between the pipes, collecting a career-high 18 saves and only holding the Bears to two goals in the second half, but Cal got enough in overtime, while Stanford was shutout, for the win.
