STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford women's golf continued its record-setting NCAA Regional on Tuesday, setting the school records for both 18 and 36 holes. The Cardinal, after a 13-under 271 in the second round, sit in dominating position at 25-under. Virginia Tech is second at 3-under, while the current cut line sits with sixth-place Florida at 9-over, 34 strokes behind Stanford.

"I don't think I've ever seen anything like this before, with so many players from our team at the top of the leaderboard and just having a great time," Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women's Golf Anne Walker said. "They're really on point. They seem so calm, poised and determined out there it's just been incredibly fun to watch as a coach and I'm really proud of them."

The Cardinal is led by Rachel Heck and Angelina Ye, who at 7-under, are both tied for first. Right behind them on the leaderboard is Brooke Seay, who is tied for third at 6-under. Freshman Sadie Englemann is tied for fifth at 5-under, giving the Cardinal four of the six individuals who sit at 5-under-or-better going into Wednesday's final round.

"We've just been trying to keep it loose, keep it fun and keep really good perspective," Walker said of the team's mentality this week. "This year, if it's taught us anything, is that we are really fortunate. Would it be great to go next week to Scottsdale? Absolutely. But if we don't, the sun comes up tomorrow, so we are just trying to keep really good perspective on that. They're all great players and we're just trying to let them shine. When they're comfortable they shine pretty well."

On Monday, Stanford tied the 18-hole school record with a 12-under 272, matching a 2017 round at the Silverado Showdown. They bested that by one stroke on Tuesday, while also setting the 36-hole record at 25-under. The previous record was 18-under at the 2015 Branch Law Invitational.

With one round left to play, the Cardinal looks for its fifth regional title in school history (2007, 2016, 2017, 2018). The 54-hole school record is in sight, also, standing at 26-under and set just a few short weeks ago at the Gunrock Invitational in Sacramento at Del Paso Country Club. Albane Valenzuela, who won the 2017 Albuquerque Regional, is Stanford's lone individual to win a Regional title.

"Finding small goals," Walker said of keeping the team motivated and focused tomorrow. "One of those small goals is we set the 54-hole school record at 26-under in Sacramento. Today this team set the 18- and 36-hole records. For them to put their names in the Stanford Golf history books is pretty special, considering all of the players and all of the teams that have been so incredibly good before them. So for them to have that opportunity, that's what I want to get them fired up about, the opportunity to etch their names deeper in the record books."

Each of Stanford's four scorers have been under par in each of the first two rounds. Today, Ye led the Cardinal with a 5-under 66, matching her career-best round (2019 Stanford Intercollegiate). Heck fired a 4-under 67 on Tuesday, her ninth straight round in the 60s. Seay's 3-under 68 matched Monday's round and was just her third career round in the 60s. Englemann, a day after a 4-under 67, fired a 1-under 70 in the second round.

Stanford will tee off beginning at 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday and will play with Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
