STANFORD, Calif. - Following an event title sweep that resulted in Stanford capturing the USA Artistic Swimming Collegiate National title at Avery Aquatic Center last month, eight Stanford synchronized swimmers have earned All-America honors.
Junior Grace Alwan, sophomore Hailee Heinrich, sophomore Ava Jih-Schiff, senior Caitlin Klauer, senior Jacklyn Luu, sophomore Audrey Nguyen, junior Alexandra Suarez and freshman Emmanuella Tchakmakjian were all selected based on their performances at the national meet.
Stanford claimed its ninth national championship in program history and first since 2016, dethroning three-time defending champion Ohio State. The Cardinal also won it all in 2013, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 1999 and 1998.
Hosting the U.S. Collegiate Nationals at Avery Aquatic Center for the first time since 2013, Stanford delivered impressive performances across the board over a two-day stretch on The Farm, finishing with 102.0000 points. Ohio State (86.0000) was the runner-up and Incarnate Word (75.0000) finished third.
Luu, named the Athlete of the Year and High Point Athlete at the meet, won the solo and Collegiate A figures competition, teamed with Tchakmakjian to win the duet final, and helped Stanford to the team title to close out the championship run. For her efforts in guiding the Cardinal to the championship, head coach Megan Abarca was named Coach of the Year.
