STANFORD, Calif. - Given to the most accomplished student-athletes both in the classroom and on the court every year, two from Stanford have been named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, as Lexie Hull was named to the first team, and Kiana Williams to the second team.
The two become the 13th and 14th honorees in program history, while the Cardinal has never before featured two players named Academic All-Americans in the same year. Hull is just the second player in program history to be named a first-team Academic All-American, joining Chiney Ogwumike (2013 & 2014).
Featuring a 3.92 GPA as a management science and engineering major, Hull has solidified herself as one of the program's top "do it all" players, known for her hard working and scrappy performances on the court. Named All-Pac-12 for the second year in a row, along with earning all-tournament recognition at the Pac-12 Tournament, NCAA Tournament Alamo Region and NCAA Final Four, she finished the year ranking third on the team, averaging 11.6 points per game, while leading the team in steals (51) and ranking third in rebounding (5.1 rpg) and fourth in assists (55). Hull averaged 26.4 minutes per game, starting every game in which she was available this season. She saved her best performances for last, helping push Stanford to the national title with double-doubles in both the semifinals (18 points, 13 rebounds) and championship (10 points, 10 rebounds) games. She finished the season with 19 double-figure scoring performances, including a season-high of 24 against UCLA in the Pac-12 Tournament championship game, and led the team in scoring six times.
Set to graduate in June with a degree in science, technology and society while boasting a 3.38 GPA, Williams cemented her legacy as one of the best to wear a Stanford jersey this season. The 13th All-American in program history, Williams finished her senior year leading the team in points (14.0), assists (3.1), 3-pointers (82) and minutes played (32.3) while setting Stanford's career 3-point mark, finishing her time on The Farm with 311. She never missed a game after stepping on campus, appearing in 137 with 128 consecutive starts to finish her career. She was named the 2021 NCAA Tournament Alamo Region Most Outstanding Player, as well as the Most Outstanding Player of the 2021 Pac-12 Tournament. Her 1,834 career points rank 10th in program history, while her 464 career assists are good for ninth. Her 83.3% shooting percentage from the free throw line is tied for the second-best in program history. Williams is one of only 22 women's basketball players since 2000 to boast over 1,800 points, 450 assists and 300 made 3-pointers in her career - just one of three from the Pac-12 (Sabrina Ionescu, Sydney Wiese). She made the the third-most 3-pointers of any player in the nation throughout her four seasons at Stanford.
