Academic All-American

AUSTIN, Texas – Stanford rising senior Emily Young was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America third team, the organization announced on Thursday. Young is the sixth Academic All-American in program history, and the first since Carolyn Lee in 2019.

A native of Mason, Ohio, Young carries a 3.87 GPA while pursuing her degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics. The utility, who was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team as an infielder, started all 55 games at shortstop for the Cardinal in 2021.
Young was Stanford's second-leading hitter with a .316/.443/.411 slash line.

A third-team All-Pac-12 selection, Young was one of three players in the conference with at least 10 doubles and nine stolen bases on the season, with her 11 doubles ranking sixth in the league during the regular season.

Young joins the exclusive list of Sarah Beeson (2002), Missy Penna (2009), Alissa Haber (2010), Kayla Bonstrom (2015) and Lee as the only Academic All-Americans in program history. She was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team – joining Teaghan Cowles and Eleni Spirakis – as well as the Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll.
