Football Gameday Changes Announced

Vaccination and Testing Policies Opens in a new window Map of Tent Locations Opens in a new window

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford Athletics officials announced operational changes aimed at expediting the COVID-19 vaccination or test verification process at Stanford Stadium. These changes will be implemented prior to the Cardinal's home football game vs. Oregon on Saturday, Oct. 2.

"I am so grateful to the Cardinal fans who came out to our home football opener last weekend, especially those in the Red Zone, who set a record for student attendance in Stanford Stadium. However, through our postgame survey and other departmental feedback mechanisms it became very clear that the level of service provided to our fans, particularly in the areas of wait times for vaccination or testing verification and concessions, fell short of our expectations," Bernard Muir, Stanford's Jaquish and Kenninger Director of Athletics said. "We apologize for the inconvenience that many of our fans encountered at last Saturday's game and have taken important measures to ensure that future games reflect the standard of service that Cardinal fans deserve."

Beginning with the football game against Oregon on Oct. 2, additional verification tent locations and verification staffing will be added to help expedite the verification process. Additionally, fans 12 and older will have two options to complete the proof of vaccination or testing verification at Stanford football games.

To complete the verification process early on gameday, fans may visit a tent marked "COVID-19 Vaccine or Testing Verification" where they will present vaccine or testing documentation to receive a wristband that is unique to that event. Fans 18 and older will also need to present photo identification. Tents will open five hours prior to kickoff (7:30 a.m. for the Oct. 2 game) and close two hours prior to kickoff (10:30 a.m. for the Oct. 2 game). The new tent locations are being finalized and a map of the tent locations can be found here.

Each stadium entry gate (gates 2, 4, 5, 10, and 12) will have a dedicated express line for fans who receive wristbands via the early verification process. The entrance to the express line will be marked by a tall flag that matches the color of the wristband for that game.

After the early verification tents close, fans will complete the verification process at the stadium entry gates (gates 2, 4, 5, 10, and 12).

Stadium gates open 90 minutes prior to kickoff (11 a.m. for the Oct. 2 game). For more information on Stanford's COVID-19 vaccination or testing verification process, please visit GoStanford.com/attendance.

Together with its concessionaire, Stanford implemented a new kiosk ordering system which debuted last week. Based on fan feedback, efforts are being made to optimize the customer experience and minimize wait times.
