Woods Advances to the Semis

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Redshirt junior Real Woods went 3-0 to advance to the semifinals, Saturday, at the Southern Scuffle, presented by Compound Sportswear, in McKenzie Arena.

Woods, who is ranked No. 7 nationally at 141 pounds, gave up just one point in his three matches. He opend the tournament with a 4-0 decision over Minnesota's Marcos Polanco and then advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-0 decision against Andrew Bloemhof of Oklahoma State.

In the quarters, the Albuquerque, New Mexico, native edged Maryland's Ethen Miler, 3-1, to reach the semifinals. Woods, who is now 6-0 on the season and 31-4 in his career, will face No. 8 Andrew Alirez of Northern Colorado on Sunday in the semifinals.

Redshirt junior Tyler Eischens was 2-1 on the day, advancing to the quarterfinals at 174 pounds. Eischens, who is ranked No. 28, posted a pair of decisions to open the tournament. He dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 13 Peyton Mocco of Missouri in the quarterfinals and will face Buffalo's Jay Nivison on Sunday morning.

Sophomore 197-pounder Nick Stemmet is also still alive in the consolation bracket for the Cardinal. He was 3-1 on Saturday with two decisions and a major. He will meet No. 24 Alan Clothier of Northern Colorado on Sunday.

Junior Jackson DiSario posted a 4-2 record at 133 pounds on Saturday. He began the day with a fall in 4:53 over Trayton Anderson of South Dakota State. After dropping into the consolation bracket, he reeled off three straight wins, including a 16-0 technical fall in 4:09 over Duke's Drake Doolittle. DiSario is now 14-5 on the season.

Sophomore Charlie Darracott finished the day 2-2, dropping a pair of close decisions. He earned a dominating 18-3 technical fall in 6:18 over Taylor Parks of Gardner-Webb in his first round match. He came up short in an 8-6 sudden victory decision to Penn State's Joe Lee to fall into the consolation bracket. There, he turned in a 10-5 decision over Buffalo's Hunter Shaut before dropping an 11-9 hard-fought decision to Adam Santoro of Cornell.

As a team, Stanford has 33 points, good for 11th overall. Action begins on Sunday at 8 a.m. PT on FloWrestling. The semifinals are slated for 10 a.m. PT.
