STANFORD, Calif. – No. 15 Stanford returned to The Farm to sweep Vanguard, 25-21, 25-20, 25-21, Friday, at Burnham Pavilion.
Stanford (4-2) hit .406 as a team, while Vanguard (0-1) posted a .316 clip. The Cardinal finished with 21 digs and four aces. The Lions struggled from the service line, notching 22 errors.
Junior setter Nathan Lietzke dished out 28 assists and had two digs. Redshirt junior libero Justin Lui totaled four digs and did not commit a reception error on 21 attempts.
Junior outside hitter Will Rottman led the team with nine kills on .300 hitting to go with two assists, three digs and a block on match point.
Redshirt sophomore middle blocker Ethan Hill hit .800 with eight kills on 10 errorless swings, as well as three blocks, including two solo. Junior Kevin Lamp added seven kills on .500 hitting with four digs.
Sophomore Luke Turner registered seven kills, four digs and an ace, while junior Nathaniel Gates collected three kills, three digs and two blocks.
Vangurad was led by Kyle Anema's 13 kills, while Matt Roussin had nine kills, four digs and an ace.
Stanford is back in action on Saturday at 6 p.m. versus UC Santa Cruz.
