STANFORD, Calif. – Let by junior Will Rottman, Stanford opened the 2022 season with a 25-16, 25-14, 25-18 sweep over Lindenwood, Wednesday, at Burnham Pavilion.
Rottman led all players with 12 kills on .647 hitting to go with three aces. As a team, the Cardinal (1-0) hit .472, while holding the Lions (0-1) to a .113 clip. Stanford held an 18-10 advantage in digs, 6.0 to 3.0 in blocks and finished with 10 aces.

Junior setter Nathan Lietzke dished out 27 assists and was two digs shy of a double-double, tallying a match-best eight. Redshirt junior libero Justin Lui anchored the Cardinal serve receive and finished with four digs.

Sophomore Luke Turner started at opposite and turned in seven kills on a .417 attack percentage, while junior Kevin Lamp totaled six kills on .300 hitting, three blocks and three aces.

Junior Adam Chang had five kills on six errorless swings to hit .833. The middle blocker also notched a match-high four blocks and three aces. Junior middle blocker Nathaniel Gates added two kills and two blocks.

Sophomore Matt Martinez made his Stanford debut, coming off the bench in the third set to serve.
Lindenwood was led by outside hitter Diego Negron, who recorded seven kills, three digs and an ace. Senior middle blocker Cal Werths added four kills on .429 hitting and two blocks.
Stanford and Lindenwood meet again on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Burnham Pavilion.
